Take a peek inside this 1960’s annual, filled with classic comic strips and adventure stories!
1968 Beano Annual
Crash helmets on – it’s time for a snowball fight! Annuals were always released in time for Christmas every year, but rarely focused on winter themes or stories, as kids would reread them all year round.

Dennis and Curly in Green?
Although Dennis occasionally appeared in blue, this is one of his only comic strips in green! This is also a very early appearance of Curly, one of Dennis’s best friends.

Introducing 3 Smart Girls
This comic strip was the only appearance of 3 Smart Girls. The page header has a slightly purple tinge, as some pages from this area experimented with gradients between two colours.

Here come the Belles of Saint Lemons
An all-girl counterpart to the Bash Street Kids, the Belles had their first Beano appearance in the 1968 annual. Illustrated by Gordon Bell, they reappeared in the weekly comic from 1971.
