1. She was born in 2001

Sofie Dossi was born on the 21^st of June 2001, making her 23 years old as of 2024. She’s also a Cancer – loyal, committed, emotionally intelligent, funny and passionate!

2. She’s from California

Sofie hails from the town of Cypress in Southern California. Other famous Cypressians include John Stamos from Full House, Matthew Morrison from Glee, and golfer Tiger Woods!

3. She discovered she could contort at age 12

Sofie grew up learning gymnastics at dance, but at the age of 12 she saw a video of a Cirque du Soleil contortionist. Contortionists are performers who are amazingly flexible – almost inhumanly so! They perform feats like extreme front and back bending, oversplits, dislocation and entering into teeny tiny spaces. Sofie decided she wanted to give it a go, and found she had natural talent!

4. She can speak a little Arabic!

Sofie’s mum is of Arabic descent, so she knows a few works of Arabic! Her father is from New York, and he’s of Italian descent. No word on how much Italian she knows!

5. She’s also an archer!

Have you tried archery? It’s tricky to get right – and that’s just when you’re using your hands! Foot archery is a type of performance where the archer stands on their hands and bends their back over their head, shooting an arrow using their feet! You have to be a skilled gymnast, contortionist and archer to do it, and Sofie had it nailed by the age of fourteen! Oh, and she can also do it while the arrow is on fire. No big deal!

6. She starred on America’s Got Talent!

Sofie first became famous at the tender age of 14, when she appeared on the eleventh season of America’s Got Talent. She wowed everyone on her first appearance, where she did a back bending handstand act where she shot an arrow with her feet – all after rehearsing the act for only a week! Sofie didn’t win the season, but she did win the coveted Golden Buzzer award! She appeared on the show five more times, including the Fantasy League series, where she won her second Golden Buzzer!

7. She’s also an aerialist

Sofie is most famous for her contortionism, but she’s also an accomplished aerialist! Aeralism is acrobats performed in, well, the air. Sofie’s specialty is aerial hoop performance, which is where the acrobat performs tricks while hanging from a hoop. She did flaming hoop routines on America’s Got Talent, which is where you up the ante by setting the aerial hoop on fire!

8. She DOES have a spine!

If you’ve seen Sofie in action, you might wonder: “Does she even have a spine???” It’s actually become the subject of online speculation (and memes)! But of course Sofie has a spine – it’s literally impossible for a human to live without one! Hers is just very, very flexible. When it comes to flexibility, it’s a mixture of hard work and nature. Your spine is a lot of bones connected by soft tissue, and some people, like Sofie, are simply born with more flexible tissue than others. Sofie also trained very hard to be as bendy as she is now – so don’t try her moves at home!

9. She’s tested some spine-bending myths

In one video on her channel, “Busting Myths About My Spine”, Sofie tried out several myths about her own flexibility! To sum it up: yes, she can fit through a tennis racket; yes, she can fit into smaller places than most of us – but no, she can’t kiss her own bum!

10. She appeared on Bizaardvark

Sofie has a couple of acting credits to her name, too, most notably on the Disney Channel show Bizaardvark, which starred Olivia Rodrigo and Jake Paul. Sofie played herself in one episode, where she astonishes Jake Paul’s character with her contortion skills!

11. She’s done some amazing collabs

As a YouTuber Sofie has collaborated with some seriously huge names! These include Shawn Johnson, Jake Paul, Lilly Singh, and Mr Beast!

12. She’s a pop star!

Sofie isn’t just a contortionist, aerialist, archer and social media star – she can also sing! She released her debut single “Bunny” in 2022, a song about a bad breakup. She’s released some other tunes since, including 2024’s “Self Sabotage”.

13. She works with her brother a lot

Fans of Sofie’s YouTube channel will already know her brother Zak, as he’s often the one behind the camera. He’s also supported Sofie’s music career, directing the music video for Sofie’s song “Bunny”!

14. She wore an amazing costume to Heidi Klum’s Halloween party!

Supermodel Heidi Klum is famous for her annual Halloween bash, where all attendees wear super extravagant and crazy costumes. Sofie was invited to 2024’s party, and she went as a chicken, with her friend Zach Justice dressed as Colonel Sanders! Sofie surprised everyone when she climbed out of an eggshell on the red carpet. Sofie’s dad made the giant eggshell, and it cost about $4,000 to make it and ship it to the party!

15. She’s done some seriously cool stunts

Sofie has used her flexibility to go on some truly amazing adventures on her YouTube channel! In one video, Sofie teams up with adventure YouTubers ActionAdventureTwins and visits Pettyjohn Cave, a SERIOUSLY claustrophobic cave in Georgia in the USA. The video is NOT for the faint hearted, as the cave is full of tiny gaps and tight squeezes, and it’s seriously flooded in parts. One of the passages is actually nicknamed The Pulverizer – gulp! Sofie’s flexibility really pays off though – a tiny space is no match for her!
