Here we go again! The whole of Harry Potter and the Wizarding World of Witchcraft is getting a reboot in a gigantic new TV series! That's right - Harry Potter will be coming back for all new adventures that'll be bigger, longer and more magic! At the time of writing the Harry Potter show hasn't come out yet, and we're still finding out more details about what the show might look like - but here are 15 facts about everything we know right now!

1. Harry Potter on HBO!
There have been many versions of Harry Potter over the years - first the books, then the movies, and then games, theatre shows - even theme park rides! Each version takes a different take on the magical tale, and now there's another coming out! This series is going to be coming out on HBO and is the biggest thing to hit the wizarding world for ahot minute!
2. A decade of magic
HBO aren't just making one Harry Potter series - they plan to do one for every book! Each season will take a lot of work, so we're looking at years and years of Harry Potter shows! here are 7 books, 8 movies and extra spin-offs - so we could be looking at a whole decade of magic! Whilst there's a lot we don't know about how the whole thing will pan out - we do know who will be playing some of the biggest characters!
3. Dumbledore!
A very talented and well-known actor named John Lithgow will play Professor Dumbledore, the wise and kind headmaster of Hogwarts! John has acted in lots of shows and movies, and he’s amazing at playing both funny and serious characters - and Dumbledore can be both! John has said how nervous he is to play the role, but we're sure he'll bring Dumbledore to life—with twinkling eyes and all!
4. Snape
The new Professor Snape will be played by Paapa Essiedu. Paapa is an English actor that has starred in lots of plays, including some really famous ones adaptations by Shakespeare. Snape is one of the trickiest characters in the story, and Paapa will have his work cut out for him trying to show off how mysterious and deep the potions master really is!
5. The new McGonagall
Professor McGonagall is back—and she’s being played by the famous actor Janet McTeer. She’s won lots of awards and knows how to play strong, smart characters - which Prof McGonagall certainly is! We can’t wait to see her turn into a cat and shout “Transfiguration homework due on Monday!” Will she get the balance of kind and strict just right? Let's wait and see!
6. Who's Hagrid?
Who’s playing everyone’s favorite half-giant? It’s Nick Frost! He’s a very funny actor who’s also played some action-packed roles. Nick is big-hearted, just like Hagrid, and he’ll definitely do a great job showing Hagrid’s love for magical creatures (even the very dangerous ones!). He's the perfect choice!
7. Quirrell's new face
Do you remember the nervous teacher who hides a dark secret under his turban? That’s Professor Quirrell! He’ll be played by Luke Thallon, who has done a lot of amazing acting on stage. He’s expected to make Quirrell silly, spooky and sometimes scary — just like in the books!
8. Fresh Filch!
Argus Filch, the grumpy Hogwarts caretaker, will be played by the comedian Paul Whitehouse. Paul is an expert at playing characters who are both grumpy and unintentionally hilarious. Don’t worry, Mrs. Norris the cat will probably be close by! We're excited to see him chasing Harry round the grounds! It's great to see smaller characters like this getting lots of attention - something that a longer show really allows the producers to do!
9. It will be true to the original!
The person in charge of the whole show is Francesca Gardiner. She’s called the “showrunner,” which means she helps decide how the story is told on screen. She’s worked on other magical shows like His Dark Materials, so we know Hogwarts is in good hands! HBO have promised that the storyline will be authentic to the original books, and will cover hidden details that were missed out from the films!
10. Who-mione?
The three most important kids—Harry, Hermione, and Ron—haven’t been chosen yet. HBO held a big casting call to find the perfect young actors from the UK and Ireland. So if you’re around 9 to 11 years old and have a wand handy… maybe it could be you next time?
11. Filming starts in summer
The cameras will start rolling in summer 2025 at Leavesden Studios—the exact same place where the original movies were filmed! That means lots of familiar magical places will be built again, like the Great Hall and Diagon Alley. Otrher famous locations will be used again, like the route through Scotland for the Hogwarts Express, or teh cloisters at Glasgow University!
12. They'll be the right ages this time
One big change from the movies is that characters will be shown at the correct ages - like, the same ages as in the books. For example, Professor Snape will actually look like he’s in his early 30s, just like in the original story. This will help the story feel more real and accurate to fans, and explains some of the casting choices!
13. New magic swag
Holly Waddington, who won an Oscar for designing costumes in Poor Things, is in charge of the wizarding wardrobes. She’s planning to make the robes, cloaks, and uniforms look magical - but also true to how J.K. Rowling described them in the books. That means new magical accessories! New hats? New wands? We'll have to wait and see!
14. JK Rowling is back in town
The author herself, J.K. Rowling, is working on the show as an executive producer. That means she’ll help make sure the story stays true to her books and that the characters are just how she imagined them. JK Rowling can be quite a controversial person, so we'll see if her own take on the Wizarding world has changed since she wrote the books!
15. A whole new Harry!
None of the actors from the original movies will be popping in for cameos this time. The new series wants to start fresh with all-new actors, so that younger fans can grow up with this version - just like others did with the movies. So forget everything you know - this will be Harry Potter as you've never seen him before!
