1. They Are From Tennessee

Paramore were founded in 2004 in Franklin, Tennessee, by Hayley Williams, and brothers Zac and Josh Farro. Williams was originally from Mississippi, and the band are still proud of their Southern roots, saying ‘we’re Hillbillies at heart’

2. They Weren’t Called ‘Paramore’ in the Beginning

Paramore weren’t always called Paramore! In fact, their original name was ‘The Cool Kids’! Luckily they decided to change it- they came up with ‘Paramore’ after mixing the word ‘paramour’ and a band member’s mother’s name!

3. Their Fans Are Called the ‘Parafamily’

Paramore have a big and dedicated fanbase! Their fans are known as the Parafamily, and the band is streamed over 5 million times a month on Spotify! Paramore also have some big celebrity fans, including musicians like Olivia Rodrigo and Selena Gomez!

4. Hayley Was Very Young When She Joined The Band

Hayley was only 14 when she met the Farro brothers, and 15 when the band was formed! But she wasn’t the youngest member – drummer Zac was only 14! At first, people were a little sceptical that such a young band had what it took – but they soon realised just how talented the members of Paramore were!

5. Fans of Twilight Will Recognise Them

If you love the Twilight movies, there’s a chance you already recognise Paramore! The band lent two songs to the Twilight saga soundtrack – ‘Decode’ written especially for the movie, and ‘I Caught Myself’ were both feature in the original 2008 movie. They also made a music video for ‘Decode’, which featured clips from the film.

6. Hayley Williams is The Only Member Who Has Always Been in The Band

The line up of Paramore has changed a lot over the years – it currently includes two founding members, Zac and Hayley. But Hayley is the only person who’s been in the band for it’s entire history! Since 2004, Paramore has included 9 different band members!

7. Hayley Williams is Famous For Her Ever Changing Hair

If there’s only one thing you know about Paramore it’s probably Hayley’s iconic and ever changing hair! Although it’s normally dyed a shade of orange, Hayley’s hair has been pink, blonde and blue! She even has her own hair dye line – it’s called Good Dye Young!

8. They’ve Won Many Awards

Paramore is an award winning band! 31 awards, to be precise! This includes Grammys for best rock song and best rock album in 2024! That’s twenty years after the band formed! Never give up Paramore!

9. They Nearly Broke Up At One Point

The band are the first to admit that they hit a rocky patch around 2009 and nearly split up. According to band members, tension was so bad that they didn’t even speak to each other between shows – they would perform and then leave! Luckily they made it through and are here to tell the tale!

10. Josh Farro Loves to Draw

Josh Farro is a bit of an artist – he admits to drawing caricatures of his band mates on the bus in between shows to pass the time and amuse them. Apparently the rest of the band aren’t always flattered by his depictions of them though!

11. Taylor York Can Play the Glockenspiel

Taylor York can play the guitar, drums and keyboards, but he’s also turned his hand to the glockenspiel on occasion!

12. Hayley Williams Also Has A Solo Career

As well as singing with Paramore, Hayley Williams has also pursued a solo career. This includes the album Petals For Armor in 2020, and Flowers For Vases in 2021. She’s also collaborated with artists lie BoB, Chvrches and Taylor Swift

13. Zac Farro Has Released a Photography Book

As well as being a musician, Zac Farro is a talented photographer, and has released a photography book called In Transit, which tracks his life and work as he travels around.

14. Hayley Williams is Good Friends With Taylor Swift

We’ve already mentioned Taylor Swift, but did you know that she and Haley are good friends and have been since the early 2000s? They both started in Nashville and Hayley has said that Taylor was her first ‘industry friend’. Paramore even supported Taylor on her Eras tour in 2024!

15. Their Latest Album Was Released in 2023

Paramore’s latest album, This Is Why, came out in 2023! It’s their sixth studio album and won them two Grammys! They also toured in in the US and around the world. As for their next project…watch this space!
