Speed Racer

 
Hop into this retro racer and travel down the motorway! This game has a classic feel to it, evoking the neon speedway of arcade classics like Outrun and Pole Position. (Go ask your dad about those!). Thankfully, this game isn’t coin-operated, so you can crash as many times as you like without losing a penny, let alone having to pay a repair bill.

Take the wheel in your angular silver sports car and let’s hit the highway.

Move your retro-futuristic car left and right to dodge traffic, to keep your car from getting both scraped up and slowed down. Aim to stay on the road, and in the centre of the tarmac, for the optimal manoeuvrability. You’ll have to dodge left and right around silver pick-up trucks little red hatchbacks, big 18 wheeler trucks, brown 4x4s and green people carriers, if you want to maintain top speed.

Straight roads aren’t too difficult to navigate, but corners can be tricky. Don’t be afraid to slow down a little bit to take the corners with more accuracy, to avoid collisions. Use the down arrow to reduce speed, or just let go of the up arrow to relax a little bit, and then accelerate out of the corner. Going off-road isn’t always the answer, but cars will bump you backwards whereas grass and gravel will just slow you down.

There are power ups to collect as well – refill your fuel tank on the go, grab bonus points, and collect turbo boosts to get an even speedier increase! If you can score over 15,000 points, you deserve to be called the Speed Champion!

– Use the controls to move LEFT and RIGHT

– Dodge traffic, or else you’ll lose points

– Drive to infinity and BEYOND (well, as long as you keep collecting petrol!)
