How To Draw a Swamp Monster!

It's time to venture into the swamp this week - and time to draw a swamp monster with this gloopy summer how-to!

Feeling arty? Pick up some pens and learn how to draw this soggy beast!

Rather draw something else? Check out these bat, snake, yeti, or ice cream guides!

You Will Need:

  • Some arty things. Pens, pencils, felt-tips, crayons, a clicky pen, your choice.

Step 1

Draw a shape that looks like a gloopy hairstyle, or a melting scoop of ice cream.

Step 2

Then draw another, right underneath it. Are you thinking about having a big ice cream, too? That will change soon.

Step 3

Now add some arm shapes at the side. They'll look like wings at this stage.

Step 4

Now add some lines below each hand that suggest they're melting like a candle.

Step 5

Connect both sides with a big dollop of scary dairy.

Step 6

Underneath that line, add another splodge. We're going big on the splodge theme. Enjoy it. You won't get swamp on the paper.

Step 7

Under the second scoop of swamp ice cream, add a slightly looping line. That will eventually become the swamp monster's mouth. Yes, it's shouting something like, 'Aaaaargh!'.

Step 8

Add some big eyes under the first line you drew. See how it's staring at you? It's jealous of your clean clothes.

Step 9

Add lots of lines like the example below. This will give your swamp monster a gloopy appearance, like they're the Boss of Gloop Town.

Step 10

Take some different green pens, pencils or colouring pencils and fill in the various layers. It looks disgusting now.

It doesn't have to look like overcooked cabbage!

You could draw a massive eye and add some horns and a tail. That purple is quite menacing, isn't it?

What about twin swamp monsters?

There's a term for this kind of gloopy creature: double trouble!

What about this three-eyed swamp monster?

It's like cross between Jabba the Hutt and a big, melting pile of chocolate. With a tongue. Whatever you choose, don't forget to make swampy sound effects when you draw!
