On This Day in Beano History… 21st September, 1985

A classic strip of The 3 Bears, direct from the Beano archive!

For our first trip into the dusty Beano archives, we dug out an issue from 32 years ago, which makes it almost as old as the socks the Beano Editor is wearing today. We're pretty sure the art is by John Geering - an artist who contributed to the Bananaman television series, incidentally - but as there's no definitive reference source for that, we could be wrong. If you know better, please let us know.Beano No. 2253 comes from a time when Beano had only 24 pages, and most of them had no colour. Still, it was the Eighties, so just be glad no-one's wearing a piano keyboard tie (ask your grandad, kids).Mick Jagger (who seemed pretty old even back then) and David Bowie were Number One in the UK chart with the second-best version of 'Dancing In The Streets' that we've heard. That's second-best of two.
