Vegetables are an extremely important part of our daily diet. They're very healthy and contain many different types of vitamins and minerals, all of which are essential for a healthy lifestyle. As well as containing antioxidants and phytonutrient, they are also low in calories and help you feel fuller so you eat less. They can be prepared and cooked in lots of ways and are really tasty!

If you love vegetables like we do, then you'll know that there's a ton of trivia which you can learn about these legends of lunchtime. Take the heroic carrot, for example. Before they're cooked – maybe as part of a tasty Sunday dinner – they're very crunchy. You can maybe hear the sound in your mind right now. Crunch! But it's amazing to learn that they're made of approximately 85% water! And they haven't always been orange.

Yes, carrots used to be purple! In the 17th century, when these vegetables were first introduced to Europe, they were purple. Some people think they were changed to orange to honour the Dutch royal family, the House of Orange. But how did this happen? Vegetable boffins spent time carefully cross-breeding different shades of carrot until orange ones were produced! Yes, we're as shocked as you are!

Before you tackle this Ultimate Vegetable Quiz, we have to tell you a fact about cabbages which is too amazing not to share! Yes, they might smell of farts when their leaves are being cooked but they're something of a hero to people who get migraines. Some people who get these type of headaches claim that raw cabbage juice or placing crushed cabbage on their forehead helps the headache go away. We've not tried it because it might make us windy.

Are you ready to display your vegetable trivia? Then take this awesome quiz!
