Would I Be a Good Surgeon? Are You A Lifesaver?!
Surgeons are the rockstar and pilots of the medical world, but would you make a good one?!
The life of a doctor can be really hard, and it doesn’t come with much higher stakes than a surgeon! These highly skilled special doctors aren’t afraid of a bit of the red stuff if it means they can help save a human’s life! But would you make a good surgeon? Why not take our special quiz to see if you’re up to the task? [does not include medical training or stethoscope]
What is a stethoscope?
It’s a rainy day, what do you do?
What is your favourite school subject?
It’s your first day at work in a hospital, what shoes do you wear?
What do you do the most?
Name your favourite kitchen utensil…
What is an x-ray?
What do you do if you don’t know the answer to a problem?
Your friend has hurt their foot, what do you do?
Where is the abdomen?
Perhaps not!
Ok, perhaps medicine isn’t the right path for you! But at least you know now, or maybe you are just having an off day - why not try again and see if you can get the result you’re after. Or maybe, just maybe you could consider another career? Maybe a scientist or a pirate?
Maybe one day!
Nice, you’ve probably got what it takes to be a great surgeon, you just need a bit more training - ok, quite a bit of training, but that’s fine! There are lots of other paths that you could go down within the big wide world of medicine. You could be an x-ray specialist, that's called a Radiographer, or you could be a skin specialist, that’s called a dermatologist! It’s all up to you after all!
You'd be a good surgeon!
Awesome! You’d definitely make a pretty good surgeon, but there’s not much room for mistakes in surgery, after all, sometimes surgeons have people’s lives in their hands! That’s a lot of pressure! You’ll need to make sure you study hard and prepare yourself properly! Don’t forget, you can always study medicine and then change your mind - the comedian Harry Hill is actually a trained neurosurgeon (that’s a brain doctor) but we think he’s better at making us laugh!
You've got what it takes!
Alright! You’d make a great surgeon, you’re calm, patient and dedicated to learning everything that there is to learn about the human body. The only thing holding you back now is a whole lot of studying! So if this is something you really want to do, it’s time to get your head down and study up on biology and the other sciences! Good luck surgeon-to-be!
