Beano Makes – Rubber Band Boat
Whatever floats your boat!
You will need
- A plastic tub- 2 rulers (these should have a hole at one end)- Sticky tape- Some rubber bands- 2 paper clips
Step 1
Line up the end of one ruler (the end without a hole) with the end of the tub and tape it in place. This should leave a few centimetres sticking out at the back.
Step 2
Tape the second ruler to the other side making sure it lines up with the first
Step 3
Tie 2 rubber bands together and push one end through the hole in one of the rulers. Slip a paperclip through the loop that then forms on the outside of the ruler to hold it in place.
Step 4
Push the other end of the bands through the opposite hole and secure it the same way
Step 5
Cut off the ends of both plastic spoons. Make sure they're roughly the same length.
Step 6
Tape the 2 spoons together, back to back, so one spoon faces down and one up. This is your paddle.
Step 7
Attach the paddle to the rubber bands using another rubber band. Loop it over and over until it's held tightly. Now, wind the paddle round and round. When you let go, the rubber bands will make the paddle spin!
Step 8
Find a pond and let your boat go float!
