Beano Makes – The ClariNOT!
It's tooteriffic!
You will need
- Cardboard tube. We used one from inside a roll of clingfilm- Scissors- Sticky tack- Drinking straw- Plastic bottle- Some help from an adult!
Step 1
If the straw has a bendy part, carefully cut that piece off with scissors. Now flatten one end of the straw with your fingers so it's almost flat.
Step 2
Cut down the edges of the flat part, so it looks a little bit pointed but still has a flat top
Step 3
This is the most important part of the ClariNOT, so try blowing on it and check it works. You can always trim some more off or start again if it doesn't quite work first time.
Step 4
Make some holes in the tube
Step 5
Use some sticky tack to seal the straw inside the tube. Make sure it's airtight!
Step 6
Carefully cut the bottom off the plastic bottle with a pair of scissors
Step 7
Use more sticky tack to attach the neck of the bottle to the bottom of the tube. You can also use sticky tape for this part.
Done!
To play the ClariNOT, just blow down the straw. You might need to move the straw around in your mouth to get the best noise. Try making them with different straws and different types of tube - the length changes the pitch!
