Vote Now! Who Will Win The Great British Bake Off?
Which GBBO contestant will take the cakey crown? Find out as we look at this year's hopefuls!
The return of The Great British Bake Off is just what we all need after this tough, challenging year, isn't it?
The 11th series – filmed at Down Hall Hotel in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire – will be hosted by Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas, while Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will judge the 12 skilled hopefuls.
The biggest question is, who'll get the famous Hollywood handshake this time around?
LORIEA
Loriea was taught to bake at a young age by her grandmother and "rarely follows a recipe exactly". Will this flamboyant approach to cake craft be her downfall? Nope! This sounds like it could lead to some bold, exciting creations!
DAVE
Dave loves to bake while listening to loud punk rock. He enjoys making different types of bread, like pretzels, brioche and baguettes. Will he be able to thrive in the peace and quiet of the GBBO kitchen? Only time will tell.
SURA
Sura loves blending different flavours from around the world and enjoys making small bakes. She admits that making layered cakes will present the biggest challenge, but we reckon she's going to do well!
MARK
The first of two Marks in this year's Bake Off – he spells his name with a 'K', though – is a fan of baking after visiting a pie shop when he was a student in Edinburgh. His strengths are making lemon drizzle cakes and wedding cakes. Mark reveals that his biggest weakness will be baking against the clock. Time waits for no one, Mark.
HERMINE
Hermine's favourite bakes have a French influence and makes the kind of fancy stuff you'd find in a lovely pâtisserie. She can also do sourdough, too! Like Mark above, her weakness will be finishing the weekly tasks on time. Good luck!
PETER
Bake Off inspired Peter to try his hand at baking, and he hasn't looked back! A keen badminton player, it looks like he'll bring his competitive edge into the tent this series!
LAURA
Laura loves to bake classic cakes but give them a modern spin. She's said to be something of a legend when it comes to piped buttercream flowers, which is sure to go down a treat with the judges.
MAKBUL
A self-taught baker, Makbul admits his strengths lie in making pastry and loves to make nankhatai biscuits during Eid celebrations. Most recently, he's started beekeeping, which means he'll have plenty of honey throughout the competition. Will this give him an edge?
LOTTIE
Baking is in Lottie's DNA as her great-grandmother loved to make cakes. She describes herself as a "frustrated perfectionist", so let's hope that doesn't deter her from doing her best!
MARC
Marc – the second in this year's competition, but spelled with a 'C' this time – could go far in this series. He's apparently excellent at making fancy cakes and pastries, so the judges are going to look forward to what he comes up with in the kitchen.
LINDA
Linda has been baking since she was a child. Her strengths are sausage rolls and enjoys using ingredients grown at her relative's fruit farm, too!
ROWAN
Rowan has a keen interest in Georgian history and loves to recreate recipes from that time. He also decorates his cakes with real, edible flowers, which is the height of fanciness. Will the judges feel the same way? Only time will tell!
